ATSA Makes Debut Appearance at the 9th Open Youth Taekwondo Championship 2024
Putatan 07 March 2024, ATSA Taekwondo Academy made an inspiring entry into the competitive taekwondo scene during the 9th Open Youth Taekwondo Championship held from 7th to 9th March 2024 in Putatan, Kota Kinabalu. This prestigious state-level event, organized by the United Sabah Taekwondo Association, attracted taekwondo enthusiasts from across Sabah, showcasing a high level of talent and skill.
In its first competitive outing, ATSA fielded 19 dedicated athletes who demonstrated remarkable determination, skill, and sportsmanship throughout the three-day championship. Competing against seasoned opponents, the team managed to secure an impressive haul of 17 medals, consisting of 6 golds, 4 silvers, and 7 bronzes. This achievement highlights the academy's commitment to cultivating young talent and nurturing the spirit of competition among its students.
ATSA’s participation in the championship is more than just a pursuit of medals; it aligns with the academy's broader objective of providing students with valuable exposure and real-world competition experience. This event served as a platform for athletes to test their abilities, learn from more experienced competitors, and gain insights that can only be acquired through high-stakes competition.
The ATSA coaching team reflected positively on this debut, expressing gratitude for the opportunity to compete and gain valuable lessons. “It was an incredible learning experience for our young athletes. Competing at such a prestigious event has not only boosted their confidence but also inspired them to strive for higher goals in their Taekwondo journey,” remarked one of the academy’s instructors.
